Here is a short 10 sec 1080P 24 "unuseable" clip from a Mazda commercial we were shooting yesterday. I had recieved a few emails from people asking to see footage with the A1 and the letus setup. I'm not thrilled with the letus performance with the A1, too much barrel distortion and CA, but I was able to get rid of most of the CA using secondary color correction.

It's amazing! I love the depth of field. The letus adapter didn't work so well on the HVX either, in my opinion..

Looks great. Don't see any barrel distortion.
What settings were you using (if you don't mind me asking)?

i dont see any CA either, if what you are refering to is her shirt being blue with the bokeh resembling something that might look like CA.

I actually was able to get rid of most of the CA around the edges of the frame (extreme blue fringing due the the Achromat of the Letus, usually found around the edges of the frame). As for my camera settings all I can remember at the moment was
sharpness 0
gamma Cine1
knee Low
Color saturation 22

Everything else was set pretty standard

did you use a crane or something to glide that cam?

We just used a simple doorway dolly for that shot, although we did have a crane setup for the shoot.
TImur, I'm actually looking at the Brevis as so far I have been impressed the most by the footage and the fact that it looses far less light than all the other adapters out there, but I'm still trying to decide.

Looking great Scharky.

Will we get to see a finished clip?

Tim.

In my opinion the brevis is the best there is at the present time. I have a letus35 I experience the same problems you described. Besides BD and CA it needs a hell of a lot of light. What exactly did you do on color correction to get rid of the BD and CA? I've been doing a lot of A1+letus tests for a feature I'm about to start shooting and even though I managed some relatively nice results on exteriors when it's really sunny, the footage doesn't even look like it comes from the A1. The letus kind of kills the A1's beautiful footage. I'm seriously considering if I'm going to use it for the feature or not. Specially because the A1 already has some truly amazing DOF and bokeh. For me the CA on the letus is the worst. I look at your footage and some parts are like waterpainting the color fringing is so bad. The same happens to me.

Even than, its a fight to get the light right and bright.

yo Timur.

have you yet heard of a way to use the lcd in camera to flip the image? Maybe in the same ways that you can do it in the dvx?

I definately want to think about an sgpro in the future, unless there comes another flip adapter thats slightly higher in quality than the letusflip enhanced.

What are some solutions? Or are we pretty much stuck buying an external monitor?

Looks good Steph, for the most part. I agree that the Letus has major flaws though, especially when mounted on the A1. I also have been looking into the Brevis. Might buy one this month.
