Does having multiple graphics cards assist with the rendering times of AE 7, especially when working with HD or does AE 7 disregard the second one?

It disregards both in rendering...all CPU, and of course, the more RAM the better. If you're looking to up them render speeds, take that second vid card money and put it towards soem more RAM and Nucleo Pro.

Copy...so I was going to get 4GB ram / two vid cards, so it's better jsut to get another two 2GB chips?

How effective is Nucleo pro? So it looks like I'll just be going with an intel core duo 2, 2.4 Ghz with 4 gb of ram. I'll probably get 640 hd (2 320 raid 0). Any thoughts for HD?

AE will not recognize your 4GB of RAM if you're running window XP. On a Mac I'm not sure but I know that XP is structured in a way that a program can utilized a maximum of 2 GB. I actually tried to add another GB before but AE didn't recognize it.

But even though it doesn't, it's good to have the extra gig so you can allocate more to AE and keep the rest of the comp running smoothly.
I've only played with the demo of Nucleo Pro, but after I have, I'm itching to pick it up. It speeds up your RAM previews, does Spec Rendering, i.e. it will render the frames you're not working on while you work on other to enable faster previews, etc, and it also background renders so that you can continue to work in AE on other projects. I believe it also uses all the cores/proc's your machine has whereas AE won't fully utilize them alone. The more RAM you have for it the better, and everybody swears by it.

That is good to know about XP and the 2GB issue. Any thoughts on how Vista will handle this?
