My dad and I designed a shoulder mount capable of holding the HVX200 with Micro redrock 35mm Adapter, matte box, and HD Marshall Monitor. That is a heavy rig and long as well so we needed something that could handle it. I did not want to pay hundreds for something like this so we designed it two nights ago and built it in a day for about 20-30$ from things around the house. It is awesome. We call it the Aftershock Uber Mount. Here are pics without the shoulder pad. Since I cannot afford a steadycam, this allows me to be mobile and the weight of the system makes my shots smooth. I definitely will need to get in shape to use this though. Total weight of everything is about 35lbs. Made out of 3/4 inch electrical steel conduit. Secured to reinforced palte by two 3/8 removable bolts.

Not bad at all!
I would reposition the Marshal to be where your flip out screen is, though.

Whoa, thats pretty sick! Very cool rig.
Is it properly balanced, or do you have to use a lot of arm-power to keep it level?

I need to add a little weight to the back and the shoulder pad and it should be pretty balanced. It already is workable, but right now a bit of arm power is required. I put my elbow against my stomach and let the weight rest there as of now.

I have already put a base shoulder pad onto it made from a single sheet of evalite foam, but it is going to need a plush, high density pillow like rest. Sort of like tempurpedic pillow stuff. I will see how it works at the music video shoot this upcoming weekend. I need to eat my wheaties!

Yep, My dad MIG welded it all together and ground the pieces to fit. He taught me how to use the machine when I was in high school, and I took Oxy-Acetelyn welding as well. Being able to put metal together is a must have skill! We used a manual pipe bender to make the curves. I would recommend asking around to see if anyone you know welds. Usually there is someone who does, or at least knows someone who does.

Go Mr. Miyagi style...Clap your hands together and rub them quickly in back and forth motion. The heat generated by pinching any material shortly after can mend broken bodies and weld solid steel!...Well....maybe not...but try anyway! :cheesy: I wonder if one can rent welding machines? I have never thought about it?

Great looking setup! How do you like the Indifocus, is it any better than the Redrock?

Sure. I just checked the phone book and there are several places here in Lexington KY that rent everything from power tools to heavy equipment.

I have never used the redrock to compare, but I have liked the Indie focus a lot. After I built this, my work saw the pics, and has asked to rent the camera and I for some high end clients. I work for an NBC affiliate editing commercials. Yay for DIY!
