Hi All!
Well, she came late Thursday afternoon... and all we've had is cloudy weather since then... but come Saturday there was a touch of sun breaking through... so I had my chance!
This forum is one of the main reasons I bought into the A1 and as way of becoming a contributing member of this valuable group... here is my first real video. My first real chance to just try her out:

http://rapidshare.com/files/11746866/Calibs_Dream.wmv.html

I don't remember what Preset I was using (I do know I was using ND 1/16, AE lock and manual focus via AF... I think it was the "outdoor" preset and I'm still having some issues working out the workflow with PP2)... but I'm in love.
This video was shot 6 feet from my backdoor with an old broken tripod (just ordered a Pro Vista from B&H) and finished up with a handheld shot of my new boy, Caleb sitting on the couch next to me. We've three rescues so expect some "dog" in my vids. :)
I am so happy to be an A1-ownin' son of a gun and hope to share info and input with everyone in this group. Glad I found y'all! :D

Hi Kirock, that link doesn't work, either in full or removing the .html at the end.

My apologies for using a freebie download service, but I'm not sure what kind of bandwidth this forum might generate so I'm being cautious... and I'm reserving most of my bw for clients, don't ya know. :-Happy(DBG):

On the file share site just scroll down and click on "free", enter the weird code, wait a few seconds and you should be able to download the vid.
If that doesn't work for ya, let me know and I'll go ahead and pm you a private link.

Niet. Maybe it's just me, let's wait for others and see if it works for them :)

Looks good, maybe a little soft? I know Premiere softens downconverted footage quite a bit. I did a quick export test with some sample clips, and Sony Vegas had a better export than Premiere. I'm close to pulling the trigger and buying one of these. I'm looking forward to seeing more footage. Thanks for sharing.

Kirock7 i like the footage... the only thing is your video was SD.

Audio: Windows Media Audio 48000Hz stereo 128Kbps [Raw Audio 0]
Video: Windows Media Video 9 720x480 29.97fps 5800Kbps [Raw Video 1]

i was looking for that gooey 16:9 sweetness, sugar coating hd quality :)

nonetheless, the video was better than any non-hd camera and thanks for sharing!
I cant wait for my a1 on tuesday. the more i see the crazier i get!!!!

Man, don't I know it (and thanks for the kudos). I offloaded the HD footage via Premiere, but I never found a good way to spit it out (I spent most of the day yesterday). It looked like crap. I tried all kinds of settings and formats (WM, DIVX, etc.) but they all ended up looking too soft and nowhere near the quality I was hoping for. If I came close to pristine quality, the file sizes would end up being enormous (friggin' huge!)
More research on my part is needed I know so any pointers on maximizing PP2 for best output would be greatly appreciated! Should I try Vegas?
I'm in this for the long haul and appreciate y'alls input as I navigate through the learning process.
Thanks!

Hey I finally saw the footage. It looks nice! Yeah it's really hard to see quality in the files, due to the downsampling and softness, but you can see that the originals looked nice. :) The dynamic range was pretty well preserved.

I'm looking for that as well and doing my best to find the optimum workflow solution.

Here's an attempt (using Premiere) to post an HD clip (click on the thumb)... but of course I'm still a newb so my stuff's certainly nowhere near "optimum" yet:

My reason for buying into the A1 was to create the highest quality videos possible (which the A1 is obviously a champ at doing! :-), creatively cut them and then put them up on the web for clients to download in the format of their choice.
Quality is my prime concern and as of now I unfortunately haven't been able to hit the best quality using PPro2.
Recently I stumbled across a thread (or a portion thereof) that described how to do HDV to web-ready video with the best achieveable quality... and I've just spent about an hour searching for that bad boy... with no results.
Could someone please outline the workflow needed to create high quality web-ready videos using PPro2 that can then be converted to multiple formats (flash, mov, mpg, divx) and still retain the awesome look of the A1? I'm not going to (at least for now) spit out DVDs... just web content.

I hear about plugins and other proggies (like Vegas) and am almost suffering from information overload and I've read so many threads/posts about ingesting and converting A1 HD that my eyes are close to bleeding but I'm bound and determined to figure this out!
