What type of recording media are some of you A1 owners using?

The Canon 63 min HDV tape is $24.95 at B&H ugh! Sony 63 min HDV tape is almost $11.00 and JVC brand is $9.95. Panasonic Advanced Master (DV) is around $6.00 but can be bought at quantity discounts.

I am just curious given the concerns over Long GOP drop-out issues. I am not concerned playing with straight DV tape for practice but for client work I would be concerned about loosing key footage. Plus I like to pick a brand and stay with it.

I would appreciate some of your thoughts and experiences,

SCannon

One of my cameras is a Sony Z1U, and its recommended tape is either Digital Master 63 at $18ea. or DVM63HD at $14ea. However, I have been using standard Sony DVM60EX (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=Search&A=details&Q=&sku=132929&is=REG&addedTroughType=search) and haven't had problems. :) Dunno if it'll work with Canon, but I was just trying to make a point that what they want you to use isn't the only option.

I have shot through 5 tapes so far with my A1. 4 Sony HDV tapes that I got for free and the original Canon tape it ships with.

Sony dropouts = 0
Canon dropouts = 3

However with the Sony I occasionally get this little wrinkle through my footage that is present for only 12-15 frames. Not a big deal because I've only seen it twice.
