Most of you saw the "Why does my night footage look so AWFUL?" thread I started. If you didn't, consider yourself lucky. After resolving the grain issue (AGC SWTICH LOLZ!!1) I went back out to some of the same spots (as well as some new ones) to get some more suitable night footage. I'm more than pleased with the results.

No CC on these whatsoever. The file's about 220MB (WMV 1080). Enjoy.

ONe thing is for sure; this camera is impressive.

I really enjoyed this

That shot of the bridge was stunning; truly artistry

I think you have a nice eye for capturing the world around you. These shots don't appear random, I can see you directing your camera where it should be as you move about

I look forward to seeing what narrative work you bring us. You've been a nice contributor to the site since you joined up

And great titles by the way !!

very good quality for night shots! i have to say, i did not notice the grain at all. The shot of the red light and the hospital title behind was cool and the music just matched. :)

im definately looking forward to my a1

I'm pleased to check out what we've been doing there (LINK (http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?p=824324#post824324)) wasn't useless. The credits are also going to dvxuser.com. Glad to know.

Nice footage. Was it all on -3db? Did you use auto white balance or a preset?

Can you share the scene file settings that you ended up using?

I particularly like the part crossing the bridge, seems to be a lot of detail in there.

Ok, you have now filmed the best A1 night footage that I have seen yet.

So, spill the beans dude! lol, besides it being 24f/1/48shutter/-3db gain what were your other settings?

And I still hold to the subjective idea that my HVX could not do this and be as clean. ... Just... wow.

I'm glad you got your Lowlight thing settled up, dude.. Bring me some narrative footage!

Truly amazing footage!!!
Please let us in on your setting for some of us newbies that got one.
The potential of the camera is going to be great for filmmaking.

Wow, what a nice response! Thank you all for the kind words. I too am very pleased with the results, and I'm more than happy to share the footage. I'm happy to report that we have narrative work in production now. I'll be sure to share that when it's finished as well. Yes, the white balance was set to auto.

As for the super-duper secret recipe...I'm afraid I just can't share it. I'm sorry. I just don't give out my personal tricks of the trade.

Just kidding. That's not what this site is about! Now for the real kicker. Aside from the settings mentioned in the clip, everything else was...........stock! Just the way it came out of the box. I didn't adjust the gamma or anything and it wasn't a custom preset. Just the average A1 setting. I'll be doing more tests with the different gamma types, though if anyone would like to illustrate what Gamma 1 and 2 are supposed to be used for that would certainly speed things along. :-)

So, there you have it. I feel like we've really got a great cam to work with here and it's very nice of you all to share your thoughts. Let's keep it up and make some great films!

Hey, this footage really rocks. Nice work. I've been doing a lot of tests to prepare for a long due feature and the more I work with this camera the more I love it. DammitJanet made a very valid point, the A1's footage right out of the box needs very little correction on post (at least on exteriors).

Oh, btw, what stabilizer did you use on the circular traveling around the guy at the door?

The fantastic Steadicam Merlin. That thing rules.

That guy was me. Note how I couldn't help but start laughing towards the end of the shot.
