hello fellows.

so a ups truck showed up at my place yesterday with the a1 i'd ordered last week. i played with it for a while and it lived up to everything i'd heard about it. biggest complaint is noisy internal mics. what's up with that?

anyhow, i had a shoot today for a SD project that's been going on for a while. i shot it with the A1 in HDV 24F to cut together with 24P footage from a DVX. i left myself plenty of space around the subject (talking head interview) to re-frame things after the fact.

anyhow, here's the footage. i don't ever typically leave so much empty space around the subject, but like i said, re-framing. also, the compression made the audio go out of sync for some reason, but i'm ready to go to sleep, so i'll fix that later.

i'd be happy to answer any questions. i also have a bunch of action-packed-backyard-dog-chase footage if anyone wants to examine for intraframe compression artifacting.

this is an amazing camera.

oh, and feel free to rip me a new one any way you see fit.

cheers,
blake

why didn't you light the candles in the background.
also she is a little tooo profile
the eyeline needs to be a little closer to the camera.
but, good job, the pix of the camera are lovely

the candles won't be in the frame ultimately. but i certainly see what you're saying. the background is anything but dynamic.

and i agree about the profile issue. i re-framed everything at the last minute, and was so concerned with creating a pleasant experience for the interviewee, that i didn't take the time to re-adjust her position.

thanks for the comments ian.
