View Full Version : sd footage
who has tried shooting the Canon A1 in 16:9 SD? How does it look? I 'm going to drop most of my cash on a camera. Computer upgrades will have to come later. HDV down convert to SD?
I won't have a problem with SD if the picture is good. Please some feedback or some links. Thanks
someone must have at least tried SD?

SD is stellar, but downcoverted hdv to SD is better. So future proof and shoot in HDV, there is no real reason to shoot in SD at this point unless you want to shoot in 4:3 and dont feel like framing while shooting HDV.
Both look good HDV is better when converted. (Conversion can be had in-cam)

You can shoot HD and downconvert in camera instead of downconverting in your editor. Doing it in the editor ultimately is the best quality but from camera downconversion will still be better than shooting SD in the first place and will still save you computing power and you'll have HD masters for later.

I was hoping it would do that. I have enought for the camera and would rather buy a good mic now.

There's a HD downconvert option once you access the menu on VCR mode.
