Effect with picture!

I finally, with the help some of you, figured out how to create a mask after motion tracking and so forth so that it can move parallel to a point in the footage. I have been wanting to place, say a picture of someone or something that can be the mask instead and can follow along. I think there's an Arby's commercial with this effect where the cook hat from Arby's follows along on top of the people's heads. How can I go about doing something like this? Would I use an adjustment layer for it?

take the picture and compose it on top of your main footage....resize as needed, and parent it to the null object that you should have made for the mask that follows the motion tracking. it should move along with the null.
