Which adapter did you use? And what's up with all that chromatic abberation? YIKES!

it was a beaten up beattie screen. the CA is from the cheap asian macro.

this was shot with the same adaptor, but it was static and with a different macro.
i will post a quick edit to see it in adaptor in motion

the look is good! but the footage keeps going bright and dark at some instances... if that is a backyard rigged 35mm then rig it good. :)

thanks, the bright and dark, in actually was because I testing out the exposure lock button on the camera.
the trick with 35mm adaptor is getting the right exposure and trying to handle the highlights-the main problem with video and one of the things that separates film from video. especially in run-gun situation where you can't turn off or dim the sun:thumbsup:
35mm adaptor setup have two main things (physical) when it comes to exposure. F-stop of the 35mm lens and F-stop of the camera, both of which are controllable and when used right will give good results
a high f-stop on the 35mm lens allows more DOF and versatility but it makes the grain more noticeable - there is only a limit you can go on the 35mm lens till you see the grain of the screen even if it is vibrating.
especially when shooting HD where it picks up everything, EVERYTHING,
concerning the F-stop on the camera, you can change it without effecting the f-stop of the on the 35mm lens. so a quick push with exp-lock and I am in the ballpark I want to be without worrying about my 35mm's f-stop.
I just want to never worry if I am overexposing my shot when I have only one chance for the shot. So by putting in shutter priority mode at 1/48 and using the ND on the camera if necessary, I think the exposure game is in lock - no pun-
Just a note: I like the 35mm setup because I like how the color optic of the lens changes the image. I am not concerned with the DOF, but enjoy more so the optical quality. Until I get me a achromatic diopter, I will have to settle with the Asian brand

phally, diy is hard. You're going to have to work harder to make this work. It looks as if you were shooting through 10 dirty windows. The adapter completely kills the beautiful image the A1 produces. Are you controlling the light on the camera or on the lenses? You MUST control the light on the lenses (get some ND filters), otherwise it'll look properly exposed on the camera settings but it will be overexposed on the lenses (the results don't look nice at all). But don't get discouraged. Nobody said it was easy building a 35mm adapter. There's people who spent years on it and still don't have it absolutely perfect. Keep up the effort and you'll make it sooner or latter.

Hey thanks, but just to defend my self, I think the footage really got me me excited,
Given this is the first time I used this on the A1, had used this before on the Z1 and had gotten good results. maybe there is a need to have more tuning.
Maybe it might not be this might noe be in tune with what most people expects out of perfection with 35mm adaptors, but the function of the 35mm remains the same all through out right? to make the image look differently?
I will post some more clear examples later

Wow, it looks like 8mm from hell. You might do something creative with that look, it won't be the 'look how expensive my gear is'-look though
