Jason's real name is "Eric" but his friends call him "Jason." The movie does not explain this, but the credits will make note of it.

I'm almost done.

I'm pretty sure that's NOT going to fly. You need to prove that it was made for this contest. And you need to prove that IN the movie, not in post. (credits).

I could be wrong though.

I mean, Jason does kind of sound like Eric.

I would fly the name thing past Barry_S. My entry is in Japanese and the issue for me was the main character is male..... there is not one person in Japan called Eric or any form of. I have 3 main characters and one is called Erika, the daughter, of which Barry_S gave me the green light. But you only need to look at my thread to see that this story was written purely for dramafest.

All that aside..... Good luck with your entry!

Well it looks like it took you about 5 minutes to shoot it. Obvious you completed it before the rules of Drama fest were posted, hence the lame attempt to comply by saying Jason's name is REALLY Eric in the credits. Is everyone in your town that gullible??

Worst film I ever saw! And so not funny.

Sorry but it just kinda ticked me off that you tried to pass it off as a valid entry. meanwhile I have stuff I've worked on for a year now and wouldn't enter any of it in the fest because none of my characters were named Eric or Erica.

I'm going to assume you did this as a joke instead of the possiblity of you being just completely STUPID!!

Lol.

LMAO.

I love it when these dudes sneak comedies into the fest. You obviously had a lot of fun making it.

Spread some of that internet bank cheddar, will ya braddah?

Gents. This wasn't a Drama. You will not win the Dramafest competition. At all. However...

Finding this little film in the midst of all the solemnity of the other entries was absolute bliss. The funniest thing I've seen on this site, to date. You would certainly find an audience for this kind of stuff in the UK. I was still giggling this morning at work. Thanks for submitting. There should always be a couple of rogue entries in any fest; it adds an extra frisson of excitement.

If you're wondering why I didn't use any exclamation marks or caps to underline my enthusiasm, it's because I'm way too British to do that.

At first I was confused because this was supposed to be a "drama" fest, but then I realized this was one of the most brilliant concept comedy stunts I've seen in a long time. I loved the brief scene of manny frolicking in a park for no reason, as well as the way he stole the money, and the use of the over-embellished shakey-cam. Some great lines too: "YES! YES! YEEEES! YESSSSSSSS!" and "I AM the supervisor." I don't know, it was just so absurd and funny.

Brilliance is so subjective. How about "ineffable." Or just plain "WEIRD"!

I dont think I can add too much to what's been said

Just add me to the list of people who were laughing out loud at this one. There's too much about this thats funny to go into. I watched it with 'Yeen' and I think we put it on about 4 times. The most watched short by us in this fest.

WTF?! Wow. This definately had no drama in it whatsoever, but I think you knew that. I don't see a win in your future, but you sure are getting noticed!

Sometimes that's better than winning.

good luck in the future.

Yeah, I have to chime in. Bless the twisted powers that spawned you guys and put a camera in your hands. This thing starts gnawing at your innards after awhile and eventually bludgeons your brainstem into submission. This is too weird for words and the only reasonable critique I can seriously add is the suggestion that it could have really worked for me if you had added a french maid ... a really hot french maid.

... a really hot french maid.

Played by David Concannon.

Yeah, i kind of wish there was going to be a comedy fest. Between this goofy thing and stuff like David Jerome's massive cool and absurd head-trip, I think ComedyFest would produce some pretty amazing things.

14th review:

well, it was under 2 minutes. the footage looked nice, i wasnt begging for it to end, thats already better than most ive watched.

in any case i dont think i need to say much other than i would actually like the 2 minutes back. No eric? the credits werent formatted to well, and according to the website on the computer, you arent great with placing text correctly anyways.

you have a knack for lighting, please take yourself seriously. but again, atleast it was short!

Wow, thanks for all the feedback. I'm very glad that people liked my movie and it's okay if some people didn't. We did shoot this pretty fast and so we had to cut some corners.

However, we did shoot this after the rules were posted. The reason the name "Jason" was important is because we wanted the name "Jason Glass" to convey fragility and domesticity. Thus it recalls "Mason Jar" and it also means "healer" and I wanted to make Jason seem like a good guy and very vulnerable, so that the plot twist would be a surprise. Also, if people like Manny knew his name was Eric they would realize maybe he was the supervisor, since the supervisor's name is Eric. There is some comedy, but I like to think that it's situational and character based, rather than based on punchlines in jokes.

The shooting style does have a lot of zooms. It was meant to look like "24," especially the scenes of Manny. The first scene, particularly the shots of Manny, I like a lot, but I think the scene of hacking the circuit board looks a bit too harsh. The edge light in the ending conversation is much too bright but we didn't have time to reshoot it or anything.

Thankfully, I learned some things and I am really glad people liked it overall. Thanks for all of your comments. I appreciate all of them, even criticism.
