how good does the Impact batteries compare to Canon batteries? i saw a 7.2 hour impact battery at B&H for $129 yet canon is selling their 5hr for the same price.
another thing i dont understand is why they firestore/citibank like accesories are so expensive!! they just have regular hard drives that you can buy on a store why the extra hundreds on it?

i always get impact batts, they work great. :) As for the firestore, they just hope you dont know that. lol. You can easily make an image of the firestore OS with acronis true image, buy a new lets say... 250gb 7200 rpm drive and then restore the image with acronis and boom you have a upgraded firestore. They just dont want you to know that. Ive done it for a friend with another model. (i dont remember whicch one)

so you built a firestore pretty much? or did you upgrade the hard drive in it?

interesting... now i wonder whether one can be built. is it possible to use an external drive for storage? or the mechanics inside make it possible in the firestore hardware. man 250GB is alot of video! ;P now im tempted to use the lowest one then upgrade. I do use acronis for my computer backup :)

i upgraded the hard drive in it. I dont think it would be possible to build one from scratch. There is a software layer that MUST have some sort of propritary stuff going on... im not sure though...
