There's been a lot of discussion here about using the A1 with the Firestore. Does any one have any experience with CitiDISK or any other (?) direct-to-disk recording systems, either with the A1 or any other camera?

There are a number of threads about the CitiDisk. A search for "CitiDisk" should find them.

There's a version of the Firestore, FS-C, that is optimised for Canon cameras. The FS-4 HD should work though.

It works with the A1 but, at this point, only for M2t files, not Quicktime.

The Citidisk or the FS-4 HD? The FS-4 as it ships only does M2T, but when you purchase the version 2.0 firmware update, it does do QuickTime.
From Focus' website:
"FS-4Pro HD QuickTime HDV Support Available Now
With the FS-4Pro HD v2.0 firmware update, you can record 1080i-50/60 and 720p/30 clips in the native QT HDV file format. QT HDV clips can be imported directly into Apple Final Cut Pro without the need for capture or conversion first"

Apologies. You are correct. I should have written that it doesn't support 24F in Quicktime, only in m2t

interesting. It dissapoints me to know that the company is charging for firmware updates though. lol. normally those type of things are free in the computer world. Oh well, hopefully its decently priced...
