Hey,

I got my Canon Xl2 on December 14th and i really love it to death. its the best SD camera on the market (personally speaking) but i hear for only 200 dollars more i could have had a Canon XH A1 in my hands instead!

Can someone tell me if its true u can get an XH A1 Brand New for 3600 dollars? Also, if so i plan to sell my XL2 for 3600 case and all and purshace the XH A1.

One more question, is 24f the same thing as 24p?

Thanks,
Mike

Did i get the right camera?

Yes you did get the right camera. Do you have the hardware for HDV, can you take it in uncompressed to get the best quality? How many people that you are going to give your work to have the ability of both dvd players and TV's to view the footage in HDV, whether it'd be friends and family or for more work?

The XL2 is a great camera with crisp optics. I love the XL2.

ok and there are ways to upress the XL2's 480p to 720p Correct?

You can upress it, although I've heard mixed results on it. But just remember this one thing, trying to get more resolution than what you have is sorta like trying to squeeze water out of a rock. Not that the results won't look any different, but you know what I mean.

Hi Mike, I have a Question for you. Do you regret selling your DVX? I am one of the many people on this message board that has seen your updates on Youtube. I'd like your opinion on the DVX vs the XL2. I myself was interested in the XL2 however, I purchased the DVX100b from Charli on this message board. Your youtube videos were my biggest inspiration for purchasing the DVX. Just curios to know what you think overall about the XL2.

My only issue with the XL series, is the ergonomics. It is downright uncomfortable to use for any long periods. As far as right or wrong, it depends on how well you take advantage of it's features, and your experience in general. A camera is a camera is a camera. The real difference is in the user.

right you are Capr Quirk, the reason why i got rid of the DVX and got the XL2 was because of the interchangable lens feature and more resolution it has (true 16:9 is amazing). I did a test with my friends 100B and my XL2 and even in 4:3 mode it kicks the DVX's ass res wise.... I personally think the XL2 is the best SD Mini-DV based camera on the market!

Also, i have not found the camera uncomfortable at all and used it for 2 hours handheld making my newest Winter in Chicago video, its just comfy for me :)

The XL2 still is a great camera and believe it or not I liked the formfactor better than that of the HVX.
There also is no doubt about its picture quality, it may not have the "pana mojo" whatever it may be, but the canon guys shurely squeezed out evrything the SDinDV world could ask for...
But after changing to the HVX I have to state over and over that Iīm not willing to shoot DV ever again in my live!
So if theres no budget for HD in a project, itīll nevertheless be DVCpro50 in the end.
BUT,
the XL2 with an Letus35XL would probably still satisfy my needs in 95% of the cases where HD ainīt a must...
Never have looked into HDV though...
