What is the preferred method for wiping the occasional fingerprint off the lens of the A1? Our protective UV filter hasn't arrived yet! :embarasse

I blow off all visible dust then use a micro fiber cloth

Are those little yellow rags that are used for cleaning off wood with pledge (thats what I've always seen them used for) as good as micro fiber cloths? I focused as close as possible and shot into a light so I could see all the dust. I instinctively did what n8ture recommended but with one of those yellow rags, and there was no dust. Hope that's a good idea.

I got a MIKROS lens cloth from Filmtools for $5.

Anyone ever wash their Mikros? Was just wondering if you used plain water or with something to help cut the oil from fingerprints etc?

Kevin, just put the cloth in the front pocket of a pair of blue jeans and wash the jeans normally. If you want to wash just the lens cloth, use only a drop or two of detergent in a large bowl of warm water, and rinse, rinse, rinse.
I buy several of these lens cleaning cloths at Walmarts optical centers. I think they are only two or three bucks each.
I met a Time magazine still photographer ( Ted Thai) that also had 15-20 of these rags in his bag to roll up his lenes in...

Any suggestions for wiping significant amounts of water off the lens (for example, shooting news from a moving vehicle in the rain)?

Get a clear filter on there and start cleaning that instead of the camera lense. For rain I wouldnt do anything else, watch your shots though you can get reflection.
