In looking at software options for direct capture to PC, it appears that Avid Xpress Pro will also support direct capture (as will Edius and DVRack HD).

Has anyone used Avid for capture from the HVX, and are there any advantages/disadvantages to any one of the three (Avid, DVRack, Edius), strictly from a capture perspective?

Avid does do live capture and can also be set to batch capture based on time of day capture (based on computer time), like a TiVo to some extent for a single channel.

Thanks much for your input.

I have access to a laptop with Avid so will give that a shot :)
