Hey, I was wondering if anyone has found a reliable card reader that works for P2 cards and can be connected to a desktop computer or other device through USB/Firewire? I think I've found a couple that will connect internally throught a PCI slot like a hard drive, but I haven't found any that claim to work with a Mac.
Since the P2 card is based on previous technology, it seems like there should be some cheap solutions to accessing the cards on a regular computer.
I know a few people have been using laptops, but I heard a rumor that the new Macbook pros don't have the right hardware. I may have been misled. It happens...

Yeah, I know I could do that, but there are times that it would be advantageous to have the camera not occupied by transfering files--like so it could keep shooting a live event, documentary, or really really quick-style filmmaking. I know it's largley an abstract concept, but I was just wondering if anybody had found any products that would work.
I found one a while back that would work with PC, but since it didn't work with Mac, I disregarded it. If I still had the info I would post it here.

There are several threads about this subject, try to do a search! The thing you are looking for is a PCMCIA->ExpressCard adapter from duel-systems designed to allow MBPs to offload P2 cards. It is not out yet, and a lot of people are waiting for it.

No, that would be for a laptop. rapsucks was asking about for a desktop, a PCI to P2 adapter. I know some exist that work on the PC, don't know about for the Mac.

Look at this:
http://www.spec-comm.com/scpci-p2.php
is the only one I've found, a PCI to P2 reader card (for PC's)

I contacted every company about a PCI or PCI-X card for desktop Macs. None work with the Macintosh

Nope, won't work -- P2 cards are 32-bit Cardbus devices.

"If your laptop has USB 2.0 ports you can use the usb2pmcia card if your PCMCIA card is 16-bit."
As THoff states and this from the web page confirms
