This is my final adapter. I found the screen I'm looking for. It will blow your mind...Okay, I'm blowing it out of porportion a little, but not really. The light loss is almost at 0..I have footage with the adapter on and off and you can barely tell when the adapter is on. The grain is gone. The only thing I see wrong is possibly the bokeh, for all the boken fans. It shows a little grain or maybe fuzzy or could just be noise. I haven't got the trained eye to tell the difference. All the boken was basically shot outside in the night. I'm super amped on this one. I'm going to post some full res shots later tonight possibly, really small ones and some grabs.

Here's a grab to get started

I can't ever get good grabs from Adobe so that's my fault. But here's some footage you can sink opions into.

Hi!

I like your footage! True, it have some grain, but it looks kind of film like and random.. Is it a static solution? - what are you using for GG - LCD screen foil?

As a static solution it would be appropriate for TV production work ( where you want that dramatic / filmlike touch ), but I believe it is too much grain if you shooting"blown to 35mm" feature film..

cheers,

david

Yeah, LCD screen. But man, I must have really bad vision because what you are calling grain, to me, is not grain. I suppose. On the other screens I had seen a lot of grain, but on these clips I haven't seen any. I'll see it on really dark area's, like on the aprons or on something black, but never something that's shallow. Maybe you have better eyes than me. I'm uploading a small clip uncompressed avi file. See if you still see it.

First clip was I think shutter speed 1/60
Second clip was just normal settings

Hhhmmhh..

No offence, man.. Maybe I call it wrong - if it is not become more intense with stopping down the aperture; than it is not grain..

But anyway; on all of your screen grabs and footage it is apparent something like white noise, and that could be the thing that distracted me..
It looks like watching thru frosted-glass.. but not that intense..
Similar effect/problem appeared with all home made vax screens that I saw..

If you want reference for no -grain, sharp picture; look at the footage of SG pro, where you can not find that creamy look on both, sharp and bokeh areas..

As I said - you could use it for SD.. but I wouldn't use it in any feature/ video to 35mm film transfer... it would be waist of money..
..and I would use SG pro or M2 - without second thoughts..

And there is always somebody that can prove that I am wrong and shoot that damn movie with that screen..

No bad feelings!

I respect every person that put an effort to bring new things/solutions on the field of more affordable fillmaking..

Thank you all!

Cheers and Happy New year 2007
