Hello there ash333 I am from Ecuador-South America, I sincerely recommend you switch to Mac... specially if you plan to do some editing and going into HD it's a whole new world of pro applications

The best P2 integration by far comes from EDIUS Broadcast. It runs fine on a 2.00GHz Core 2 Duo. As for hard disk, it depends on what type of projects and how large they are; a simple 250gb system drive and external e-sata or FW drives should be fine for many/most tasks.

I use EDIUS Broadcast for the very reason Barry mentioned (p2 integration)
I edit on a Core Duo 2.16GHz Laptop w/ (2) 120 gig system drives, and e-sata drives for editing.
As Barry said, you can always upgrade your HDD space either internally, or through the purchase of Firewire800 or eSATA drives.
Hope that helps,
Jason

Hi Barry, but that means only 250 min. of HD footage. So what to do if the HD is full. Burning it on DVD means 31.25 (to be exactly) DL DVD's !!! HD-DVD/Blue ray is still expensive (software as well as hard ware). Archiving on tape is also expensive (you require a special recoder). Isn't this the Archilles heel of the HVX workflow even if you buy a > 1TB drive ????

HDD's are getting cheaper and bigger all of the time.
Getting 2 500 gig drives and putting them in an eSATA dual enclosure in a raid 0 would give you a TB. And, whether it be for desktop or laptop, there are many eSATA cards available that offer dual eSATA slots and raid capability, so one can always purchase a 2nd eSATA setup in the future (for cheaper) and double their capacity.
I am using a dual 320gig SATAII setup in a Raid 0 right now. The drives were 90 bucks a piece. I can buy that again for pennies in the future, and have 1.2 TB.
Also, keep in mind the 250 gig that Barry was speaking of is for the system drive. You would additionally buy the e-sata or FW drives for your footage.
