Are you talking about the dvx100 or the hvx200?
In either case, the answer is not anytime in the next year or more.
The DVX (SD) will not likely be upgraded.
The HVX will be more likely to be upgraded via Firmware before you will ever see an actual new version of the cam.
This is, of course, all speculation as there is no one but Panasonic who knows their plans for sure.
Run a search and you will find lots of discussion on this topic. It has been discussed quite thoroughly
Take care,
Jason

The Firestore is the best external recording device that is currently available for use with the HVX.
There is also the upcoming Cineporter (check the FAQ sticky at the top of the HVX hardware section) that has many people excited. Myself included.
I consider these to be interem solutions though. P2 cards will get bigger, and there will soon be no need for these external recording devices. But until then, most would recommend the currently available Firestore, or the upcoming Cineporter (personally, I'm waiting to see what comes of the Cineporter)
The search is your friend. You can find all the answers to your questions. Just do a little research, and find out what you need to know.
As far as wondering about updates to the camera, I would recommend that you don't. Unless you know that there is an update coming in two months or whatever, don't worry about it. Get the camera you want and make money with it.
