I couldn't find any mention of this in the HVX manual- does anyone know if the handle and its screw socket are strong enough to suspend the camera? This would be for heavily mobile work, not static shots.

I would consider finding or making an L-shaped bracket that would support the camera from below. There's little chance of crushing the camera if supported from below. But there's no telling what the tensile limits of the handle might be.

The handle should hold up pretty well (it is made to carry the camera after all) but not the screw socket.
Though it would be best to use a bracket that went under the camera. Especially if your shots are more "dynamic".

Some users report broken handles. Buy or make a cage or L or C shaped bracket, that's safer.

Thanks for the replies! I'm going to try the bracket approach.
