1. How do I import multiple photos at once?
2. Do I need to resize from large 300 dpi files to 72dpi or will the program do it?
3. Is it possible to zoom and pan?

are there any tutorial sites dealing with still images?

Thanks

To import multiple photos just navigate to a folder where your folders are stored.

I don't think the program will resize them, but it may not be necessary (other than cropping for your desired aspect ratio, if you want to)

You can zoom and pan using 3dPiP. I believe that is the recommended option for having a keyframeable solution when working with panning, etc across photos.

I believe there is also a program from Canopus called "Imaginate". I haven't tried it, but it is for working with photos. There is a trial version you can download from the Canopus website.

Hope that helps,
Jason

Thanks Jason. I found the Folder icon and imported through there. In Premiere Pro if I did not down rez from 300dpi to 72 it would crash my computer.

I will try the Imaginate but where can I find 3dpip. Thanks for your quick response. I knew how to do all this in PP but starting over can be fun...if you are not on a deadline.

ps. Is there a way to automatically insert a transition between all slides. I have several hundred?

I dumped a few pics in a vid that I made recently that were from an 8 megapixel cam. I didn't resize them or anything. Edius handled it fine.

Take care,
Jason

1. Just select multiple files to import - standard Windows selection rules apply - use Control to toggle multiple, Shift to select a range.
Note that the Windows file selection has an interesting quirk (this applies to everything unless the program specifically compensates) - the last thing you select is the first thing imported. This means if you click A, then hold down shift and click E, things will import E, A, B, C, D.
The simplest way around this is when selecting ranges, select the last item first, then hold down Shift and click the first item. So in this case, click E, then click A. Then you'll get A, B, C, D, E.

2. EDIUS will always have access to the original resolution of images. However, the default behavior is to resize imported clips such that the largest of the two dimensions fits the frame (hence things are either letterboxed or pillarboxed if they don't match the project aspect ratio).
You can zoom using the Layout function.

3. You could use the 3D Picture-in-Picture keyer. However, at least rghit now, keyers don't "get" the data until after the resizing done by the Layout function, so zooming into an image that's been scaled down will give poor results.
Thus, Imaginate is the better choice for moving pans and zooms as it retains the original resolution of the image so moving zooms/pans are nice.

Select everything in the track (Control-A is default), then drag a transition between two clips on the track. The transition will be added between all selected clips.

Merry Christmas everyone!
