Capturing 1080i from MacBook Pro via Firewire

Has anyone successfully used a MacBook Pro with an external SATA drive for capturing 1080 from an HVX-200?

Finding a battery powered external drive would be the next task.

I don't know of any eSATA battery powered drives.

Why not get a EC/34 FW 800 card, and capture to a bus powered FW drive?

And you will be going through FCP? No pNative formats
