Is the light smear extremely intense? Does anyone have screen shots or clips of it. I used to own a pdx10, the light smear somewhat annoyed me. Does anyone know if it is worse than that? Or around the same. Im debating over buying the A1 Or V1U.

I haven't even seen it yet and I have an A1.

I'd love to see an example myself.

Refer to any footage that's been posted that has a stoplight in it. Lightsmear is one of the things I noticed with the A1. That being said, I'm not sure if it's settings or just inevitable.

I couldn't guage how much it really effects the overall picture, though. While it's there, my opinion is that it's not enough to degrade your image and it's realistically avoidable, as well.

well the V1U uses cmos opposed to ccd, so it wont have the smear. Tell me, do you like your A1? And most importantly, do you like it better than you liked your dvx100*

That's a question for Coffee. I own an HVX200.

Some people view certain issues as more important than others. I personally don't rate Light smear on the high-list. In these batch of cameras I haven't seen one produce any hyper-ugly light smearing effects. Noticable, but not as distracting as other short-comings/limitations.

Canon's light smear is not bad at all. Certainly way better than the HD100. I was surprised, as I expected it to be a lot more noticeable and a lot easier to trigger, but it isn't.

As a die hard DVX100a owner I will say that I like the A1 better. OUCH! Who threw that tomatoe?

There is light smear with the A1, tends to vertical, not bad at all and seems fairly natural.

When I talked to Barlow a few weeks ago he said he felt the A1 was much improved over the H1 as far as light smear goes. I have to say since he mentioned it, I have noticed a decent amount of it in my H1 footage. Funny thing is I never noticed it until we talked about it.

It just proves that sometimes ignorance is bliss.
