Hi, hopefully someone can direct me to a resource or something which can help. We're shooting a music video on Thursday on Green Screen and the background plate on Wednesday on a stills camera.

We're trying to match the angle of view on a NIKON SLR (18-70mm) (which we're shooting timelapse background plate) with the angle of view on a HVX stock lens' (which we're shooting the foreground plate on.

Any idea what focal length on the HVX would match the SLR's field of veiw at 18mm?

Is there a chart for the field of view on HVX?

Any help much appreciated :)
thanks

You can't match the angle of view from an 18mm SLR with the HVX200's stock lens.

The stock lens on the HVX200 is about equivalent to a 32.5 to 422mm zoom. You'll need to use a wide angle adapter that's at least a 0.6 or wider. Century makes one. The only limit is that you can't use the full range of the zoom.

Good luck with the shoot!

so if I shot the SLR at 32.5 it would match the widest angle on the HVX? :)

Is your background plate going to need to track against your foreground or is the foreground plate locked-off? You might need to disregard the FOV somewhat in favor of extra real estate for tracking motion.

I don't think we can do any tracking because the background is taken on a locked off the SLR and we won't be able to simulate any perspective on the big road we're photographing.

We were going to dolly in and out square on but i still could do with matching the SLR with the HVX's angle of view? what do you think?
