Ok, I know I should be running at least 5.0 to be able to capture clips but here's the breakdown. I used 5.1 to capture my P2 form the firestore to an external drive. I brought the footage hope and imported the files into my FCP 4.5 withthe easy setup to 1080I/60 and all the clips only had one mono channel of audio...pretty wierd. The original footage is 1080i/24P and was originally imported with 5.1 and the clips had all four channels in there, when I open them in 4.5 I only have a mono channel.

Thanks!

4.5 doesn't support the P2 format very well. Stay very far away from 4.5 if you're working with P2. Stay VERY far away from it.

5.0 introduced new audio support systems in FCP that don't exist in 4.5. 5.0 supports up to 24 independent in/outs of audio, 4.5 only supports 2.

Export your audio in pairs, as stereo pair AIFFs. Then import that into 4.5.

But you really need to be at FCP 5.1.2 to take full advantage of P2 in FCP.

Right Ned! Trying to use 4.5 for P2 is just going to piss you off.
