I saw this today. I think it is DiCapprio's best work so far. Good action, good story. Overall I liked it quite a bit.

I haven't seen the movie, and the acting and effects may be great, but it just bothers me that this story would never happen.

It seems so unprobable. Except there really are things called blood diamonds. And the movie is based on fact.

saw it. dicaprio was good. hell he was nominated for his acting in this AND the departed. honsou was good too, and i wish he did more stuff. overall though i didn't like the movie that much. acting was great, but overall EH for me.

Just how many movies do you see where the story line really would happen?

I'm suprised people haven't commented more on this movie. I just saw it tonight, after not really being interested in seeing it based on the advertisments (and I did think I would put up with dicaprio's accent the whole movie.

...but holy crap did I love this movie. It was long, really long, yet I don't think I was ever bored for one second. Dicaprio did an amazing job. He seriously has been doing such an awesome job lately, he deserves major props. But yeah, geez I don't even know what else to say except I loved this, definitely one of my favorites of 06

I always thought a blood diamond was simply a ruby.

Now everytime my girlfriend asks about an engagement ring I can say, "WHAT? You want a BLOOD DIAMOND!? Think of the children for once!"

Okay seriously I gotta' see this flick... I get the feeling it may address a social-economic philosophical question I've had for a long time. Isn't it crazy to think that most of the planet toils away (and sometimes dies) in an attempt to better their own lives (or simply survive) by satisfying the wimsy of a relative few?

Hmm... maybe it's just the budlight talking...

Yeah I'm glad to hear that some of you like this film... I'm going to see it soon.

LOL Mattin. You'd like it.

I for one, REALLY enjoyed it and made me think... sure there's a corny semi love story sorta thrown in it... (imo it's needed but not needed...) DiCaprio tho... amazing. DEFINITELY deserving of two nominations. In this he was GREAT one of my fav roles.

Honsou too not to be overlooked. Except I want to really comment on Leo, and a trend that happens to his characters when he has facial hair...

Thought it was ok, could have done with losing 20mins during the film and the last 15mins were just not needed. Worth watching though.

One other nitpick, not just from this movie but others too...

I just hate it when there is a pause in the action, the actors get their lines out/finish the sentence/conversation and JUST as they finish the shooting starts again at that exact second. That always takes me out of a movie, in Blood Diamond it was glaring.
