I am trying to achieve an Ink transition look similar to the one in this video
http://www.nabilphotography.com/likethat.mov

I am more interested in the technique to use to shoot the actual ink in the HVX. Mode, rate, speed, as well as what to use (water on white background-then drop india ink, watercolor paper and slash india ink). I am a bit lost. Has anyone ever experimented with this?

im guessing here but maybe the ink transition is more likely to be a plug in effect for AE

theyve just shot india ink dripping on white paper then altered the footage and used that for track mattes in AE or another compositor.
thats not even tank stuff
the tank stuff makes clouds of blooming ink and not drips like this.

Studio Artist (synthetik.com) does this super easy, better than anything else will. I've used this technique as a transition a few times before.

Nope, nothing else like SA in the world on any platform. They keep trying to get around to making a Windows version of it, but since it's a small company, they admitted if they do it'll be a long while. John Dalton does a fantastic job developing this unique peice of software. I can do coloring, lighting effects, enlarging video and graphics without the artifacts everything else out there has, stuff that no NLE or other software can do. Very cool. And "NO", I do not work for Synthetik Software, I just believe in the product that much.

From the discussion board:
"FROM: john dalton SUBJECT: Re: More on Harware for 3.5

3.5 and MSG Evolver currently run fine in emulation mode on intel macs. Anything multi-threaded within the individual apps does thread on intel machines with multiple cores. I know of lots of people who use studio artist on intel macs in working environments, so both programs are totally useful on intel macs when running in emulation mode.

As far as a native intel port goes, we are working on this. The port will also run on pc's as well when its finished. We try not to comment on time frames too much while we're in the middle of a development effort, so you'll have to bear with us on that. Let's just say the ports are very labor intensive, so people are going to have to bear with us while we do the extensive work required to pull them off."
