Hi,
I just finished my edit, but the rushes are on 2 different external HD's that have to be connected at all times. Also maybe some of the data may be on the computers HD as i was not always very organized. I would like to move my project with only the files associated with the final edit to a pocket drive. How can i do this? Do i have to gather the source files from the different drives and copy them individually to the pocket drive?
thank you for your help

What you want is the Media Manager tool in Final Cut Pro. It is located under the file menu. You'll want to use the Copy option from the sounds of your description of what you want to do.
So highlight the sequence(s) in your browser that are you final edit(s). The go to File | Media Manager. Switch the first pull down option to Copy. Make sure "include render files" is unchecked (unless you really want to keep them, but that's a waste of space in my eyes, especially if going to a pocket drive).
If you want the full clips of the shots that you used in the final edit then uncheck the "Delete Unused Media from Duplicate Items." However, if you want to further save space, and only copy over the exact footage in the sequences, so trim off from the master clips, then check this option. If you want to give yourself a little bit of play, you can then add a couple second handles.
Leave Duplicate selected items and place into new project checked. This will create for you a new project like it says. It will prevent you from damaging the current one in anyway then.
Lastly, plug in your pocket drive. Mount it to the desktop. Then you can click on the Browse button in the lower right hand corner of the Media Manager. Chose your pocket drive and desired folder from here. Then hit okay and let it rip.
One word of warning though. I haven't used the Media Manager in some long while, so I might be a bit rusty with memory of some of that stuff. Use the manual, Apple Pro Training Series book, or confirmation from someone else on this board before out right following my steps. I'm pretty sure I have it right, but I ask you to double check what I said for your own good. Good luck.
cheers.

Thank you VaricamLife,
It seems to be working, i am getting some error code 34 messages though telling that coping a certain file has failed and that a of-line clip will be created. Is there something i need to do afterwards?

I've had the same problem... and Media Manager is the way to GO! as far as the off-line clips... if you can reveal the clip in finder and physically move it to the new location and then re-connect media you should be good... make sure you even need the clip though!
Hope some of that helps
