The general consensus of the $14 stabillizer is that it looks like 14 dollars.
I mean it's not a waste in the least bit but don't expect the 'glide' feel when
viewing your dailies. What you can expect though is something similar to
fig rig footage.

That's allready quite a bit of discussion saying the same thing Emanuel.
I'll say it again:
That $14 thing is a joke. It is NOT EVEN CLOSE to a Steadicam in ANY WAY. Not in the contruction, the desgin, the quality, and most importnatly; not in results.
Sure if you are bored and want to build something on a rainy sunday afternoon, go for it. But if you want smooth Steadicam (like) shots, then you will need a real stabilizer.
- Mikko ... has better uses for his $14. Like donating it to isara.com

Emanuel, I think you answered your own question.
Mikko when did you turn into a mod? Or have you
always been and I haven't noticed?

It seems so. :dankk2: for your inputs. The results are the key, for sure. Would it be possible to get a DIY stabilizer system but efficient?
It could be rough (I wouldn't mind)

A good one will take time, and unfortunaltly money.
However loads of poeple are making DIY rigs with varied success: www.homebuiltstabilizers.com (http://www.homebuiltstabilizers.com)

Be sure to read Charles' introduction

It outlines very well what you can expect going DIY.
