I've tried everything. I even went out and bought the new Apple Certified how-to book. No luck. Is there a special setting I'm missing? Thanks.

We need more info.

What are you using to capture (deck or camera)? what is the footage? what is the problem? What are your settings? What version FCP are you running?

Do you have 5.1.2?

I'm not really sure as it's my partner's mac that has it. I know it's 5...point something. Is there some sort of auto update function in it somewhere?

Also, we're capturing from the A1 itself as apparently there are no decks that will support its 24f footage (I think). We shot 24f 1080i. I don't know what the settings in FCP are. I'm pretty new to it. Usually a Vegas man, myself but we have to learn FCP before film school next fall, so there's the rub.

If you're using FCP prior to 5.1.2, it will not work at all. You have to update to 5.1.2 to support Canon 24F footage.

And yes, you're correct, no other device other than a Canon HDV camcorder can play 24F footage so you have to use the A1 (or a G1 or H1) as your "deck".

I looked into it and we're using 5.1

So how do we update to 5.1.2?

In your system preferences go to the software update option. Hit the button that says check now. The 5.1.2 update should then appear in a list (might be some other updates for you, might not). Check off whichever updates you want to have installed, hit the update button and it'll go into autopilot the rest of the way.

cheers.
