I tought that maybe someone would be interested in cheap HD field monitor for DOF adaptors etc?

Just buy a $36 Component Video to VGA Adapter for HDTV 1080i from ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/Progressive-Component-to-VGA-Converter-Projector-HDTV_W0QQitemZ320061077810QQihZ011QQcategoryZ11072 QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) and connect it to any VGA enabled LCD screen (http://cgi.ebay.com/8-TFT-LCD-AV-TV-VGA-PS2-Car-AV-PC-3in1-Monitor_W0QQitemZ110063703145QQihZ001QQcategoryZ32 826QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) you like. There are plenty for sub $150 VGA LCDs on eBay wich are 640x480 native pix or more.
Moreover you can buy sub $400 vga TFT from XENARC and achieve the same resolution that only $1000+ field monitors do.

Actually I`m not pacticed this so it`s only a theory.

Cheers,

Just tried the same using this: http://www.mp3playerstore.com/stuff_you_need/special/IN-700VG.htm
and a passive VGA to component dongle.

On 480i output from the XH-A1 I get an "out of range" error and on 1080i output, a blank screen. So if you're trying the same with that LCD...it won't work. However, that converter you posted looks like a better bet...just need to figure out power for a portable solution. I'll try it and report back...

Nice to see who brought it :)...

Seriously, it seems quite a good converter by specs. If I´m not mistaken that converter works on 9V.

If component to VGA with this converter works out good enough then there are plenty ultra slim low-cost 15/17" LCD screens out there that work on external 12V power bricks and are easyly powered by any 12V power source.

Let us know how it worked out.
