There's some discussion going on in DVinfo.net about the image quality. It seems that the progressive frame grabs are as bad as the pre-production models reviewed by Simon Windyham.

Yeah, I'm a little spooked by early reports of V1 problems.

I'd been leaning toward buying a V1...but now I'm favoring a Canon XHA1.

I'll wait and see some more V1 footage first, though.

The reported problems have specifically been with the V1's progressive modes. The 25p of the V1E has been called "unusable" due to some sort of blurring effect. That is, the camera appears to have a production flaw.

This problem was already found in a pre-production version of the V1E. Everyone thought it would be solved with the production models, but a new owner is reporting the same problem.

Maybe this is just a rare issue, but it's not encouraging. The main reason to get this camera over the FX7 is its 24p mode! If that isn't reliable, well...:violin:

We should start seeing V1E footage this week. I'm going to give it a fair shake before drawing any conclusions.

XHA1 vs FX7E http://www.fxsupport.de/15.html
Low light perfomance is as expected, Sony`s 1/4 chips are poor...

Toenis, I hope you don't mind but I think this comparision is worthy of thread consideration.
