I've always wondered why I couldn't get quite the right framing or aspect ratio that I wanted in a shot with only using the default lens. My question is does anybody ever use other lenses with the dvx? It almost seems unheard of when i ask someone. My impression that i got is that the adapters for telephoto and wide angle that you just screw on, don't make that big of difference and severely lower the quality. Is this true? Is there any way to use a 55mm lens without building a 35mm adapter?

I don't believe the lenses on the DVX100 are interchangable. So without the 35mm adapter, you're stuck.

those are not 35mm lenses.
take ur 55mm lens and hold it up agaisnt the camera and look at the lcd. It doesn't work, you need the adapter to use them properly

You have a Fixed Zoom lens. If you're not concerned about the DOF then why bother with other lenses? You speak of the lens adapter's you screw on, such as wide angle or 2x telephoto. Yeah I don't know if this is going to help you too much. These are project specific lenses that will not help you frame correctly or compose for a given Aspect Ratio correctly.
Buy a Frame Chart, Mask the Aspect Ratio off on your LCD, use that to frame for 1.85.1 or whatever you use.
As for Framing, this is all you bro. Learn how to Frame within a given Aspect Ratio, masking it off will help you know where the crop will happen. So exclude the necessary, and include the necessary. Practice....

I'm assuming your shooting DVX100(ab) You've got a 10 to 1 zoom on that baby! Have fun! You have every focal length you need!
