Ok, so here goes my first stab at the poster.
It may be the case with Xmas in the way, that I dont have time to get this ready for Dramafest, but I'll do my best.
So far I have the structure worked out, but no actors, locations or anyone on board. So there's a lot of work to do yet :-)
I'll keep this updated as I get nearer or futher away from the goal!

reserved for shots of reciepts and dead dogs.
Good luck, old chum.
I'll try to get my film ready to 'take you on' this time.
No postings until January for me though.

Welcome to the festival. Best of luck to you, man. I like the poster, by the way. It works for me. You have a synopsis coming soon?

I like your poster. Is that a screen grab from your footage (DVX or HVX)?

Aye Carrummmmmba, I hate mosquitos. Are you going to have that late night buzzing in your ear through out the movie?

there's definitely something calming about the picture and you hit the title, and kablamo... Something unnerving.
I dig your poster :)
Cheers!

Hey Yeen, I fully expect you to make something good, if not, our friendship is over. However, if you make something better than mine then our friendship is also over. If you sleep with my nan again then our friendship is over.
Ramjet, thanks for the welcome. I entered Horrorfest with a week to go and I promised next time I would give myself a lot more time (it actually worked out being under pressure, but I dont want to go thru the 18 hour days again....). I really hope I can get what I want done for this one. If not I'll be entering 6 minutes of bars and tone to compensate.....
Stinkpot - I wish this was my DVX. This is from my Canon 350D, but I dont think there's a rule that the poster has to be shot on the DVX - I hope not or im disqualified already!
Aram, you're way ahead of me. There is buzzing at some points in this movie, but dont let the title fool you...
Edgen, cheers guy, you know I love your posters!!! so thanks a lot. Are you not joining us for Dramafest?
Now I've put the poster up it's odd but I feel a sense of urgency! Before this I was like... yeh yeh Dramafest, I'll get round to it. And now I'm thinking 'Oh God, I really have to do this now'.....

I don't know the rules but the picture itself is a nice composition, I really like it and the poster design.

Can't wait Darkline. I'm a fan after Halfway.

whats in the bag? Well Im not entirely sure myself yet......
Im happy with the structure, but there are a few problems I need to iron out before I even put the dialogue in..... and then theres a lot of work involved.
Thanks for the suport everyone! This is going to be a totally different feel and style to Halfway, but hopefully it'll still be interesting for some.
My current plan is to have it scripted and cast for xmas with all the locations sorted out. Film early Janurary and then edit to the wire before the deadline. It'll be close methinks.
I really would like to work with some orchestral composer for this one, but it's going to be a hard push as I doubt I'll have anything to score to until mid-jan..... hmmmmm

Darkline, I really like your poster and banner and use of colors in the title. I do think the Last feels a little "week", but it makes the Mosquito pop out more, which is probably a good thing.
Sounds like you are going to have a hectic schedule man. I really liked Halfway, so I can't what to see this one. Good luck.

Karl! So glad to see you in the fest. So, what's the plot? A mosquito shoots out
of a burlap sack? An albino mosquito nicknamed, "Eric" corners someone in the
room? Am I close?
Herman Witkam

Poster looks very promising!

Thanks to one and all.
Charli, Im afraid I might have to can this idea now as you're far to close to my idea. I have only one, it involves a sack, Well, that wasnt my idea as I nicked it... :-)
Actually I really like the idea so far but I dont want to give anything away right now. I mean, come on it's only 6 minutes :-) I think you'll just have to wait and see
all i will say is it might not be set in summer and there may or may not be any mosquitos in it, or 'of's'
im rambling cos I have nothing to post right now, which means I really should be working on this.........
Jeremey and Herman - thanks. I will try my best to get this in shape for Jan :-)

Hey Karl, Great to see you in. I CANNOT wait to see what you bring to follow-up Halfway.
And I am so delighted that you are giving yourself so much more leeway this time around.... give you plenty of time to screw it up so you don't kick my a$$ again in filmmaking!!!
Seriously, Great to see you back on the boards... gonna be another fun fest!
And your poster is lovely. Such a nice balance and calm to it. Did you colorize some of those leave or did you find a tree with green AND brown leaves on it???

Oh God, I really have to make something now.... Thanks Ted and Paul :-). But dont expect too much!! You know, in those dark hours where you'd rather play your xbox 360 than get up off your ass and work, this REALLY helps. Everyone is very encouraging and I do appreicate it...
The last time I came across such a supportive community was in Crack rehab.
Thanks all...I'm on it!!!

Darkline,
No sweat. You already proved your talent to me with "Halfway". As for myself, this is my first time out on this site, and I'm not a "name" on DVX-User. I'm feeling the pressure, but am looking forward to participating. Now if I can just nail down the ending.
Best,
Ben

Well I'm not a name either really Ben and most people welcomed me with open arms. I'm sure they will do the same with you. Horrorfest was my first stab at this, but by the end of it I felt I'd made a few friends on here. So welcome aboard!
Darkline

Oh Ted, the photo I took was totally brown leaves. I was hoping a more unreal look of one leaf brown one leaf green would be a bit more interesting...

Thanks for the follow-up on the photo. It is a very interesting shot!
And I agree with you about the "friends" here at dvxuser. I, too, took my first shot in Horrofest. I am just amazed how many "friends" I now have since then.
Amazing place!
(DVX-Ben.... good luck to you!)

DARKLINE: Well I'm not a name either
I beg to differ, my man. The other day we were having a meeting at Blaine's house and were talking about DVXUSERs and the best of HorrorFest and your name came up prominently several times in the conversation. You hit the ground running and earned everyone's respect.
Besides, being a "name" around here doesn't mean much if your attitude and/or work suck. Some well known members seem to go out of their way to not help or encourage others. I'm also reminded of MovieMaster who developed a lot of good will only to squander it when he made a bunch of claims about a film he supposedly made that apparently was all hogwash.
My point is that you don't have to prove anything here and need bring nothing to the party other than sincerity to make a lot of friends quickly. HorrorFest was my first as well and even though I was a nobody Jack Stanley was happy to invite me to join him in making Rekindled. And so now here Ted and I are making TTN even though we didn't know a Taco Cart from a Home Depot carrier!
Welcome aboard. You are now one of the resident neurotics and from what I can see you fit in perfectly (hmmmm... maybe that's a scary thought).
Ted Arabian
12-15-2006, 08:03 AM
Well said, Mark. I agree with everything you just said!
(and you made me laugh again at the TACO CART biz. Damn, that was funny!)
Karl, you are a house-hold name with me!

awwwww shucks, thanks Mark and Ted. I never really had the chance to chat to you Mark properly on here, but I think you're work is great. Anyone who plays with digital guts for a pastime has to be ok in my book. TTN should be a lot of fun. I said last fest Ted that you had huge potential. ID was very good, but even more so when you consider the circumstances. It'll be interesting to see what you can do with a Taco Cart and a bluescreen...
As for Movie Master, Im gutted he isnt in this. I want the gates of drama to open. Unholy, I dunno what was going there......
Resident Nerotic, nice. Do we get big sofas each and DVX robes? If not you will feel my wrath (of Kahn on VHS)

Haha, DVX Robes...I'm hearing a movie idea Darkline. Think Movie Master should direct.

Ok I knew this was coming.
Im afraid Im going to have withdraw from the fest. Unfort work commitments mean I will be working day and night all throughout Jan. It's just not possible this time. Sorry guys, but good luck to all of you and I'll be watching the entries come Feb 2nd....
This short film is not dead, it will be made, but just not in January and not for this fest.
Jason Ramsey

God Dangit! Another one withdrawing.
Sorry it isn't going to work out for you, man. Maybe something will change and you will be able to enter after all.
Best wishes to you,
Jason
