Okay, I re-titled this baby from the stale "Stale Mates"..."The Shell Game" sounds more noirish, plus my original idea was to do more of a suburban angst tale. The story as written now is definitely all noir, all drama.

The script is complete! I'm not sure how much of the plot, if any, we're supposed to reveal but it is about a soon to be married man who encounters his worst nightmare. A modern day femme fatale; amoral, intelligent, and unfortunately for him, very, very pretty...

Will be posting cast photos as soon as that's complete.

Well, this baby is cast and we're shooting on Christmas Eve. One of my lead actors is going
out of town at the end of December for a whole month. That left Christmas Eve as the only
available day. So we're shooting in the afternoon and I'm wrapping things up with the other
actor on the 8th of January.

Plot sounds good, looking forward to this one. How is the casting going?

Thanks for the reply, Geoff.

I've received quite a few headshots so right now its all about finding someone
suitable for the roles. I use SFCasting.com, I received 118 headshots for the male character and 87 for the female. Sounds like a lot but the talent pool here in the San Fran Bay Area is shallow compared to L.A. obviously. One time I put a casting notice on Nowcasting.com and received about 900 headshots.

Anyway, I find casting to be one of the more exciting parts of pre-production, trying to judge who actually *looks* the part.

Hey Rich Poche!

I like your poster with the girl in the shell. 118 and 87? Good luck with the selection process. Looking forward to seeing this.

Thank you. We had to re-work the script a little bit...The original script was a bit too risque so I thought it best to eliminate the T&A (which I'm sure will disappoint some of the more red-blooded members of our DVXuser audience). We're going more *old-school* noir...We'll be updating next week with a cast hopefully.

hey Rich, I like the poster. Very interesting. Is there such a thing as too risque? Just kidding. Follow your instincts. I'm really looking forward to seeing this. You should have your banner link to this thread. If it was before it isn't doing it now. Good luck.

Thanks for the kind words, David.

How risque is risque? In my filmmaking endeavors I try not to censor myself too much during the writing of the script but invariably end up scaling things down to the comfort level of the actors or other reasons. Its the catch-22, there are films/shows that I enjoy like "The Sopranos" or "Dexter" that in my opinion wouldn't be as edgy without the T&A or violence (Actually I never watch network tv shows because they've been 'neutered'). But there is also the flipside wherein I obviously don't want to exploit anyone or pander to an audience...So, its like you said, just gotta follow my gut instinct.

Best of luck to you with "Shell Game" I like the poster, too.

Keep the updates coming. Only like 30 something days left
