Hi all. I am a little stumped, and search hasn't turned up anything useful...

I am using a macro tube assembly for my 35mm DOF adapter. It's a Minolta MD mount.

How do I mount this securely to my DVX?

The macro tube rings are interchangeable, and end up in female threading on the side that faces the DVX. I am unable to find an adapter ring that will securely mate this end (58mm I believe) to the threading on my DVX (or more properly, to the achromats attached to my DVX.

I tried to use a 55mm male coupler, then a 58mm male coupler, and neither fit (one was too small, and the other too big). So either the size is wrong, or the threading is reversed.

Anybody have any luck mounting one of these macro tube assemblies to their DVX? Thanks in advance for your help.

not sure I understand the question but DVX is 72mm.

Thanks, sink. 72mm, yes, but I use some achromats, and my ending thread size is 58mm.

But what I am saying is that the threading of the macro tube is either of a non-standard size (not 55mm, and not 58mm, but somewhere in between. Also, I am not sure but the threading might also be reversed from what my coupler rings might be.

Anybody who has purchased and used a macro tube for their adapter know what I am talking about?

Thanks in advance.

search ebay for 'macro coupler'. I did the same once to connect these extension tubes to cams thread. You need male to male one

Thanks again for all your replies. I appreciate the help.

Here is the Macro Tube in question (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSAA:US:11&Item=150040104500).

Here is the macro coupler I purchased (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=Search&A=details&Q=&sku=81929&is=REG&addedTroughType=search).

I also purchased a 55mm macro coupler, and neither one works. When you try to attach the coupler to the female thread of the macro tube, it spins endlessly and doesn't grab the threading. The 55mm seems is small, and the 58mm is too large.

I don't believe there are any (commonly available) sizes in between. Is this because I am using a Minolta MD-style tube, and the thread diameter is non-standard?

does the end you are trying to match up with the dvx actually have threads or the male/female Minolta MD mount? sounds like you are trying to connect the MD mount to standard threads?

Correct, I remove the rear MD Lens , and now that end of the tube has female threads - I just don't know what the specs are, and nothing (55mm or 58mm seems to fit.

Anybody here use a macro tube for their adapter? PLEASE?

With the macro extension tubes I've used (different brand mind you) they have been non-standard threads. I've ended up using some strong epoxy to attach a UV filter to the end of them. The ones I use have male threads on the ends though. So I suppose you could just attach a macro coupler with the desired thread size and you'd be good to go.

ya get a step ring with a lip and epoxy the hell out of it!

That sounds like a plan. I wanted to avoid having any hand-made attachments - I wanted pure mechanical threading from start to finish. How come ThorLabs doesn't make different inner diameter tubes? 1, 2, and 3 inch width is all I see...

Oh well, thank you SO much guys - it's good to get info like this from those who have already been there and done that. Take it easy. I will be done soon.

PS, I ordered a vibrating GG assembly from Daniel Schweinert, and it just arrived today. Can't wait to get it all working and post some new footage.

Thanks again all.

Heej WJM!

Nice to know that anybody made Minolta adapter..

What diameter of Vibrating GG assembly did you take for those macro

tubes??? 57mm??

And what are you using for GG? EE-S?

Is it steel needed to cut edges of EE-S with Daniel's vibrating assembly?

Cheers,

Hi leteeci,

for the cheap minolta tubes you need the VH-55. Better is when you get the tubes and measure it to be sure. You dont need to modify your Ee-S you can use it fullsize.
