Hi, I am heavily looking into getting a XH-A1, and I have seen many sites offering the Mack extended warranty for the camera, at a seemingly reasonable price. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with Mack in general and if one of these warranties is a good investment, or if it would be better to put the money towards say an HV10 to limit the ware on the xh-a1 by using that as a deck.

I only recently joined the forum, but I've been coming here to check out info on the DVX camera's for quite some time, but I've only recently been able to save up enough money for a camera. I look forward to trying to add something to the community.

They are a good investment. They are backed by the vendors, and have been in business for over 70 years. You can get more info @

Well, I'm going to take the other route. The one and only time that I purhcased a MAC warranty and had to use it was enough experience for me. Not only did I have to send the camera alot further than I would have if I had just gone to a Panasonic dealer, but it took them 10 weeks to get my camera back. What they don't tell you on the MAC warranty is that this is an absolutly acceptable amount of time to have your camera fixed. In those 10 weeks I ended up having to rent another camera 6 times, all in all, it would have cost me less to pay someone to fix the camera then get the really poor customer support and inacceptable service time to fix something simple. My opinion, not worth it. Honestly I havn't heard a positive MAC warranty story yet, but then again, nobody complains when things go right, so maybe I just got screwed, but one time is enough for me.

Thank you scharky. I haven't really gotten any negative feedback so far, but that doesn't mean it isn't out there. I think the best thing to do is continue to ask people their experiences.

I bought the mack warranty for my dvx...but since you have to ship it out and wait...i would rather spend the money on insurance or other equipment.
