Yes, I read this last night. It just confirmed what everybody already knows. This will probably be the new DVX...unless pana and jvc come up with something comparable at the same price.

Does anyone think the Sony V1U could become "the new DVX" too?
I'm undecided between the V1U and the Canon XH A1. The Sonys should start arriving very soon, so we should get some side-by-side analysis.

Even with the v1u coming out. Even with the HDMI capability...
I would still buy an A1 over it. In fact, I'm feeling left-out. I want an A1. =(
What a great report. I'm waiting to see when Barry's opinion gets released, and a few more peoples. Regardless, the camera's footage from users speaks volumes. The good reviews only sweeten the deal.
Sigh.

I don't know. One of the facts that made the dvx what it is was it's price. The A1 is basically the same price the dvx when it started being sold. The sony is within a different ball park, price wise.
On a different note I read both camera's manuals and from what I can see the A1 has WAY more image control options. Of course, we have to wait and see what's what when Sony's footage starts hitting the forums.

From what we could see until today, it seems A1 will win the comparision.
Even if a wider latitude @CMOS can help but the chips are smaller.
A1 has best bokeh, wideangle, resolution (in theory), etc vs. HDMI. But by now why would we need it for?
If there isn't progressive as possible external capture option as far as my knowledge?
Canon doesn't have high end to protect (except for the same block XL-H1 or same camera G1), so...

Sony should reconsider their price point as of yesterday, I know they wont and I guess for good reason. There are many people who are Sony FANS and just wont switch. But also to be fait the V1 isnt tested in the real world.

I hope that RED comes up with something comparable at the same price.
