I would love to show you guys this footage I got from the Chiefs/Raiders game I was at yesterday with these babies! But I don't know if I would get in trouble.
I had it on 24F in HD, and MAN, it looked like footage you would see on HBO's "Inside the NFL."
It was a GORGOUS day and made AMAZING pictures for my A1s!!!
Let me just say the zoom on it is AWESOME too! I was on the 5 yard line on one side and could zoom ALL THE WAY at the other end with getting it tight enough to see what was going on at the other end of the field.
If any of you don't think I'll get in trouble, let me know how I can get the footage out of Final Cut Pro, and onto the internet to show you guys.

Im assuming that you were in the stands since the NFL has banned TV cameras from with sidelines with the exception of the network crew and two pool cameras for local stations.
If you want to post it, that's your decision, but I will say that the NFL is VERY STRICT with how their game footage is used especially on the net.

No, I was ON THE SIDELINES!! I was rubbing shoulders with the TV stations and all it's glory. Had an NFL press pass to have access on the sidelines. It was a blast.
My gig was the half time show. But I was able to stay for the second half and video tape some of the game.
I wasn't told I couldn't, but I also wasn't told I could. Really just shot this stuff for my benefit and to really see what these cams could do, and what else than an NFL game of my Chiefs!
I'm not going to do if I'll get in trouble, but if I can put up grabs, let me know if that would be okay, AND how do I pull grabs from FCP, and post them here?

I'm with DenverDVX on this one - don't mess with the NFL and get in trouble. Now, having said that, how did the A1 handle the footage? Shooting football - especially close-up - can be a challenge for DV/HDV.

"Any pictures, descriptions, or accounts of the game without the NFL's consent is prohibited." So you can't even tell us who won.
http://www.usa.canon.com/app/html/NFL/ Canon seems to be friends with the NFL.
And also you could simply ask the NFL if you can.

Well, I don't want to mess with the NFL.
But, to answer your question in how it held up? IMO, AWESOME!!
VERY SHARP detail. I could zoom all the way up into their helmets, and could actually see their eyes and some facial expressions.
I have never owned a Canon and never really seriously thought about investing in them. But, after hearing good things and seeing footage from great people here, THEN getting some myself and using them, oh, yeah, these will definitely please me for quite awhile.
BTW, is the onboard mic on anyone else's cams a little loose? Does it wiggle a little? Both of mine wiggle a little, and I'm thinking that is so not cool. Is that what I get for having gray market cams? Or, do all the A1s have that going on? Let me know guys, thanks!

The "loose" mic is on all the units. A lot of users on the different boards have been asking about it. It's the way they built it, like a shock mount. I would just be careful about banging it into anything. oh, and I want one.

Well, looks like Panasonic has its "clunking lens" and Canon has its "loose microphone".

It's a shame that a camera that's so rockin' would have such a stupid little quirk as a loose mic on it.
Ah, well. I'll just be careful with it, and keep lovin' it!

All A1's seem to have the mic wiggle. I'll see if I can find an answer as to why it's like that.

I cant remember the exact words, but it isnt a design flaw, its actually a design attribute intended to keep any noise such as a tap on the zoom or any part of the camera away from the microphone.
