I was sooo close to being ahead of the curve on this one....
We were getting ready to shoot this weekend and it all blew up. The actress can only work one day a week, the producer said the main character reads like a co-dependant psycho, and the AD just couldn't feel good about any of it, so...
A complete re-write. Actually, I'm really glad. I spent the last three days chillin' and the last three nights watching all of my favorite movies. I've watched everything from the BMW series to Cars to Finding Neverland.
New story, new script, new cast, (never insult the director) new everything.
NOW I can make a picture.

It really was exactly what I needed. Everything around the house is caught up. I updated my site and got a couple of things straightened out there. I feel lighter and ready to get started on the project.
I am really going to focus on the characters this time around. I want the viewer to be able to feel what they are going through. I have a couple of visual tricks up my sleeve, but I don't want this to be about visuals. It has to be about the characters and their story.
On another note, my composer and I have chosen to go away from the style of music most often associated with Dramatic work and we have picked different instruments to work with. I think the results will be quite refreshing.
Still keeping the tag line of "Would it be better to have loved and lost, or never to have loved at all?" Still don't have a title I like. "Did you miss me?" no longer fits.

Thats good. I "postponed?" my project, and am creating another one with a write. It feels good to have a fresh situation etc, if you can pull it off.
Good luck on this one.

The break lets you get rid of your emotional tie to the project. I'm not saying it's bad to be emotionally connected to a piece, but it's never good to have too much of an emotional investment. It clouds the judgement. Now I am clear.
