Does anyone have a case they can suggest that will work well for the Canon A1 and possibly a shotgun mic?

THanks!

lol - thought you meant case as in an "argument for" buying an A1. :P

I, too, would like some input on this since I will be purchasing both soon... always good for input!

I got Kata-207 for mine. Very good if you are going to carry around the camera a lot.

Hello.

I just bought a pelican 1550 case for my XH A1 and whilst fitting the foam for the camera, realised that this particular model is not perfectly suited to the camera. What model pelican cases do others on this board have?

Thank you,

Sam

PortaBrace; interior strap moulds to the A1, room for shotgun and other accessories - carry on; I like it.

I user the Pelican 1510 + 1519 Lid Organizer. The organizer is held in by 4 screws and holds my extras nicely. It is also airline approved for carry on so you can take your equipment with you which I like as I travel a lot. I can easily fit my camera, (cheap) sound equipment and more into the case.

Look into a bigger Pelican.

I'm using the Kata MC-61 - the same case I used for my DVX and it's awesome.

I lived with a hard case (Haliburton) for 6 years with my XL1 and it was a pain in the arse.

Hard cases are heavy, noisey, and bulky. Sure you can throw a Pelican case into the ocean or leave it in the rain, but the compartmental layout, lightness, and "leg friendly" nature of a soft case works for me.

I'm not shipping in my case, but who cares? I shipped my Haliburton by FedEx and it came back to me with a big dent in it, so that was the last time I did that anyway.

i will be using my lowepro nature trekker. its been with me for quite a while, serving as a sweet home for my dvx. can anyone give me a size reference of the a1 compared to the dvx? is it much taller and is the mic mount removable?

"can anyone give me a size reference of the a1 compared to the dvx? is it much taller and is the mic mount removable?"

My A1 fit perfectly into the same space I had my DVX in, in my MC-61 case.

The mic is not removable. I think the A1 may be a tiny bit longer than the DVX, but doesn't appear to be taller or wider.

Sorry to dig up this old threat, but does anyone know if the Pelican 1600 is also carry on approved for airplanes?

I got this guy:

Petrol PCCB-2N

Works great with the A1, and its not that expensive.

Nope, 1510 is made for planes. The 1600 is too big

I use a 1610 and a 1650. I have foam setup for camera, mattebox, filters, shoulder mount and grips, batteries , another set up for m2, lenses, mics, wireless. And a spare foam insert thats cut out for cam, batteries, audio and screw on filters.
