Hi,
I finally got to take a DVX home this weekend and have a question about the thick / thin Vdetail. Final delivery will be NTSC dvd (Interlace TV).
I know thin preserves more vertical resolution, and thick has less twitter/flicker on interlace tvs...BUT I noticed when testing the camera it seems that Thick has more chroma noise in low light.
Has anyone else found this?
I was thinking shooting thin with sharpness a few notches in the negative. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or possibly a combination with the detail coring to find a good compromise?
Thanks for any suggestions,

BBroz

Overall Thin is less noisy than any of the other settings, while Mid apparently is the noisiest. Thick is a little bit noiser than thin. This effect is even more visible if you're shooting daylight.

This thread should give you a little more info on the subject:

Thanks,
I did some more test shooting last weekend and for NTSC interlace display I'm still undecided on thick vs. thin. I'll have to play around with the v detail and detail coring a bit more.
From what I can see, detail coring +2 or +3 softens the image only slightly (not a big issue with thin)...are there any other side effects?
So hard to tell, as the camera seems to really respond unpredicably in various lighting conditions (more so than any other camera I've used)...
I guess time and experience will yield the best results! By then I'll have the HDV :-)
Thanks any and everyone,
