hey I know there are tons of people on this forum that know tons of stuff! Now im only 14 so i may sound kinda stupid...but Iam hoping to get an XL2 for christmas this year, i have contacted canon and they said "Im not sure the diffrence between the two, i don't have any information on it...just go with the XL2 NTSC version". But just out of common interest anyone know the diffrence between the two, (all I could find seemed to be that the XL2E is a PAL version).

Thanks so much!

In deed the "E" means that it's the "European" (PAL) version of the camera. This means a small difference in framerates a coupdl of little tech things. But it's teh sa camera basically.

WOh sorry just realized I put this in the wrong section!

Consider it moved...

No, you copied correctly. Double posts clutter the forums so I moved your first thread [as I'd allready responded to it] and deleted your 2nd thread.

There are no retarded questions. Though the pointless "lol" doesn't help...

NTSC and PAL are the common names for the two main video standards used around the world.

Due to differences in mains power systems, the two video standards operate at different frequencies (NTSC at 60Hz - 30frames/per/second, PAL at 50Hz - 25fps). These differences in frequencies create different opportunities for bandwidth use. As a result PAL has a slightly higher resolution and slightly better color rendition with built in color 'error removal'.
For the common viewer, these differences are almost completely unnoticable as both formats end up having a similar amount of data over all.

Computers doesn't have anything to do with PAL or NTSC. Computers will see it as data stream and it doesn't matter which computer you use for a NTSC or PAL camcorder. It means you cannot watch it using a DVD player and TV set that only supports NTSC.
