"On the Lot" is created by Mark Burnett and Mr. Steven Spielberg himself. Go to the site if you haven't yet. http://www.thelot.com

I think it would be so sweet if someone from this community (at least one, right?) got on!

Oh, and be sure to read the rules and regs completely. Some of the "most viewed" shorts on the site haven't, and may lose their chance to be on the show.

On rule that stands out to me is "you must own and controll all the rights to the submission..." and further explains that basically to show the film on the web, you have to have original, or at least the rights to, music used.

Anyway, sounds cool. Thinking about shooting an idea I had for this thing. We'll see.

.

I was wondering when they were going to do something like this. Where are the rules and regs, I couldn't find them anywhere on the site. Do you have to sign up to see them?

I'm thinking about submitting something too. I've competed in a couple short film making contests with really tight deadlines, and thought I'd submit those, but I definately want to read the rules and regulations first. Where are they?

Nevermind, found it. Wow, that's a lot of legal stuff. Where do you sign away your immortal soul?

I want to hear some more DVXUser's thoughts on this show. Come on guys, check it out, have at it.

As for me, I don't know...not sure if I'd want to become a reality TV star...but the oppurtunity does sound amazing.

This could be interesting, but there's always a catch.

"I authorize you, and any entities affiliated or in privity with you, to utilize on a non-exclusive basis, for eternity and in
any manner you see fit, the submitted material to you, and to make derivative works from such materials. "

Make derivative works? If I were going to enter I would use a short film version of a very unique feature project that I have been developing. So, I enter this short and they like the concept so they decide to develop their own feature. Without even having to tell me of give me a nice "thank you". That just blows.

I understand all the other legal things about how they may have projects in development that seem a lot like the one that I entered and so on and so on, but the above clause is giving them the direct right to just take anybody's project and develop it furhter with no compensation to the filmmaker.

That's just a bit shifty, if you ask me.

Just talked myself out of it. Besides if this ends up like Projecdt Green Light winning could be the kiss of death. :)

i agree with that........ can't see myself submitting with clauses like that.

maybe they're running out of good movie concepts and decided to tap into the vast pool of indie filmmakers for fresh blood without having to pay top dollar.

You think?

Of coarse I'm not sure how many "fresh" ideas are in the indie community...
