I just got done applying to Best Buy for a part-time job, as a non-comission salesman, the guy who walks around and asks you if you need help and gives you some advice. Saving up for a Canon XH-A1 which I'll hopefully get by my 17th birthday in about 6 months. :)

Anyone have any experience working at Best Buy? I heard pay is about $8 an hour and they're pretty flexible on hours. Is this true?

Thanks,

Ernesto.

I haven't heard great things, but hey it's a job. It'll get you your camera and that's whats important, right?

My condolences. Best of luck with the job though. I hope you survive the holiday season. Black Friday is supposed to be completely insane there. The only other thing I would brace myself for is the noise. It gets ridiculously loud in there. Whether it's general customer din, sales people turning on every stereo in the store, or some idiots in car audio cranking up the bass on the latest bull#### that passes for hip hop for the whole store to hear. Nice choice of cam, and kudos on the avatar.

don't you also get discounts on BestBuy items?

I doubt they'll sell any high-end video stuff, but you can buy some shizzo for editing.

I worked there about 2 christmas's ago during the christmas season. I came on as a full-timer in the computer section so I could sell macs. Well that full-time turned into part-time which turned into me quitting. But I think a lot of it had to do with the store. It was like a giant high-school, people spreading rumors, who's dating who, even the older employees were doing it.

Since I worked in the computer section, I had to sell my soul with each computer. Not only did I have to sell the computer but I had to:

Upgrade the monitor, memory, harddrive, etc
Need antivirus?
Need us to install it?
Need us to boot it up so you don't get a lemon on the way out?
Need us to uninstall any of the programs you get when you get a pc from us?
Need a printer?
Well don't forget ink!
Don't be silly, of course you need paper.
Well you gotta have surge protection, are you stupid?
Well if you are worried about surges, you definately need our PSP to cover the computer!
I think you need some blank media to for that cd burner of yours!
Well there is a great deal since you are buying your PC now on these bundled worthless software!
Any other worthless crap I can screw you over with? Flash drive? Better keyboard? Microsoft works?
Did I mention NETFLIX!?!?!?!

Other then those things...it was okay. The discount was killer, but you gotta work there 30 days (I think) to get it. It was good on some cds and firewire cables you can get for a bargain. And those crazy expensive PSP deals for everything they sell there are SUPER cheap.

On of the guys that I know that still works there has said they have made a change to getting what the customer need and not pushing that crap on them ALL THE TIME (to the point where some would yell at you and leave). That, and the manager from HECK left. But yeah, good luck on BLACK FRIDAY, people ARE CRAZY. But it wasn't horrible.

Rant over...sorry, long night.

And also if you qualify for a Best Buy card you don't have to pay it off for 24 months!!!!!

Okay, really done.
