Here is a quick attempt to color correct underexposed Red footage. Nice latitude dude.

Hi,

Thats like using a high ASA & recording in Raw, I do it all the time with my Nikon D70.

The pictures look very good IMHO.

I think I titled this thread incorrectly - assuming my math is right it should have read "underexposed 5 1/2 stops" (f11 - f64/95 split)

If they post the f2 exposure I'll see if we can get a match on the way up - and you know what that means... yes the fabled 11 stops! :zombie_smiley:

Hmm. How do I turn on the picture. Have not been seeing pictures attached to posts.

I've checked the FAQs already. Thanks for any info!

Eric,
In your User CP (top left) under "Edit Options" there is a checkbox for "Show Images" under thread display.

Wow, I'm stunned.

While I'd like to see a proper comparo vs the Viper/f900 and Kodak. I will have to judge this against a previous test on CML for what its worth.

Still it's damn damn damn impressive.

Thanks Mikko, but that's not it. Already checked that and it was selected. Even tried toggling it off and then on and refreshing - no joy.

The only way I just found to make the images display is to have my forum "Display Mode" set to Threaded (not Linear or Hybrid), and then to select away from the post with the attached thumbnail and then back to the post, when mysteriously the thumbnail appears. Not exactly convenient!

Done a virus and spyware scan and nothing suspicious.

Weird.

try doing that with DVX footage..... :(

Comparing the DVX to the RED is like comparing a $100 point-and-shoot to a true DSLR... it's ridiculous and pointless.

[edit: wow, that was kind of harsh... perhaps I could've phrased it better]

umm yes.. that was my point. :)

Here are some bracketed HVX shots I did a while back for fun. Levels were matched [to varying degrees] to the 2.8 shot.

And my point was... why even bring it up? I wouldn't rip around the track in a Ferrari and say "Try doing that in a Honda Civic!"

Enjoy (http://homepage.mac.com/brookwillard/hvx2.jpg).

I didn't do the best job matching the over/underexposed images... but you can at least get the picture from this experiment.
