has any one used Nikon 50 mm / 1.2 with M2? I am thinking about getting this one. Its a bit pricy (about USD 600 new) but was wondering if its worth it.

I would appreciate any info.

Cheers,

Nice glass. The older lenses found on eBay are a lot cheaper and are usually of great quality. Occasionally I would see a 1.2 pop up but now that I won mine, I no longer pay close attention.

I have both the 50 f1.2 and the 50 f1.4. I can honestly say that I believe the f1.4 is a little sharper.

If I was you I'd save the money and go for the f1.4. They're much cheaper and easier to find. It's not like there's a huge different between the two anyhow.

At least not worth the $300-500 difference in price

I think it's a bit too open for anything but extreme depth of field shots (which sometimes can be effective). Better to lift the light level and shoot at around 2.8 - 5.6. As a specialty lens it has it's place like fisheyes and long telephotos, and if you can afford to lash out the bucks then why not. But if you are mostly shooting say 2.8 and above then it's not worth spending the extra money as you won't get any benefit over a 50mm f1.8 or f.2.
