View Full Version : General questions, using HVX w/ tapes

Hi tonight I'm going to use my new HVX200 with miniDV tapes for the first time. I'm somehow familiar w/ using my camera w P2 cards but with tapes is unknown territory. Couple of questions... (and yes i know some of them may be stupid, please gimme a break)
Should I "stripe" my tapes? how?
Is the focus assist feature disabled when shooting w/tapes?
Is the thumbnail fuction disabled when shooting w/tapes?
Should I shoot in 24PA?
Any other suggestions/tips? Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can only shoot DV onto tape.
No need to stripe tapes first
No thumbnail is available when shooting to tape
24Pa ...thats up to you.

1) Don't bother.
2) No.
3) Yes.
4) If you're planning to edit in 24p, yes.

Is the focus assist function disabled when shooting w/ tapes? I cannot make it work.

Whoops. Thought you meant EVF Detail (my mistake).
It's disabled not because you're using tape per se, but because it's only available when shooting HD, which you can't do to tape. You wouldn't be able to use it if shooting DV to the P2 card, either.
