For time code we want Free Run and have set that on the HVX-200 and will synchronize the cameras via 1394. What should the FS-100s be set at?

How should the Pre-Cache recording be set up? On the HVX-200 or on the FS-100.

We had the Pre-Cache set on the FS-100 and had problems getting the HVX-200 to record when we pressed the record button. Switched off the Pre-cache on fs-100 and set it to normal and then everything was fine. We have 2 FS-100s and 2 HVX-200s and on one FS-100 (the one with no problem) it said E Rec and the one with the recording problem (wouldn't start recording) the fs=100 said C Rec. We turned of the pre cache on the fs-100 and then it went to E Rec.

Pre Cashe on the FS-100, not on the HVX. Only set it on the HVX if recording to P2 cards. Should not interfear with normal recording functions if set up properly.

On the FS-100 go to the Setup menu, make sure you have a mark (indicating the function is turned on) by TC EXT, TC NON-DROP, EXT CTL PAUSE. And in the CONTROL menu, it should be set to TAPLESS.

C Rec means you're in pre-rec cache mode. E Rec means you're in regular tapless rec mode.

The FS-100 may hesitate for a moment before you start seeing the TC start to roll on it's screen the FIRST time you hit the Rec button on the HVX. But once it starts, when you stop recording (hitting the rec button on the HVX a second time), the FS-100 goes to PAUSE mode, so the next time you hit rec, it starts right away.

Hope some of this helps.

I set the FS-100 as you said but there was no pre cache recording. I set the HVX-200's PreRecord both On then Off with no difference.

The HVX's pre-cache will actually interfear with the FS's.
Which cache mode were you using on the FS, what was the time you set?
If you are absolutly sure you're not getting the pre-cache or disk-cache footage, contact Focus support.
